Here’s our list of key takeaways of our health and nutrition webinar organised by personal trainer and life coach Marco Laterza especially for ISP Group and our top 5 tips for being healthier at work:

Make sure you always have some healthy snacks at your desk

When your stomach starts to rumble, it’s great to have a healthy snack. Luckily, there are plenty of tasty options you can buy at your local supermarket or prepare at home in just a few minutes:
– Unsalted nuts (e.g. peanuts or cashews)
– Berries (e.g. blueberries or raspberries)
– High-protein yoghurt or Greek yoghurt
– Hard-boiled eggs

Focus on achieving smaller, more gradual goals

The most important thing for a healthy lifestyle is being able to keep it up. This means the goals we set for ourselves should be achievable and sustainable. Here are some examples of gradual goals:
– Replace dessert with fruits or berries three times a week
– Eat wholegrain pasta instead of normal pasta
– Fill half of your plate with salad
– Take a 30-minute walk during lunchtime three times a week

Eat slowly and mindfully

It might be tempting to eat your lunch as fast as you can so you can get back to your to-do list as soon as possible. However, eating fast can cause us to miss the sensation of fullness, which then can result in overeating and stomach ache. By eating slowly and mindfully, you will not only enjoy your food a lot more, but also actually notice when you’re full.

Turn your lunch break into a work break

Breaks are often the first thing we neglect when we’re stressed and have a busy schedule. But, if we don’t take breaks – maybe a short walk outdoors or lunch with colleagues instead of eating at our desk – our productivity decreases, our feeling of tiredness increases and the quality of our work suffers.

Always have a few ideas for a quick and healthy lunch

In a perfect world, you would always have a healthy, home-cooked lunch with you and time to take a walk in the sun at lunchtime. In reality, you’ll probably often have to have a quick, rushed lunch. That’s why it’s good to have some go-to ideas for a quick, healthy lunch – maybe a salad from your nearest supermarket (always make sure to get enough protein by adding things like chicken, fish or beans), sushi, a poke bowl or a piece of bread from your local bakery with some avocado, ham or cheese.
