What is an AMC?

AMC stands for Actively Managed Certificate. Over the past few decades, there has been a significant surge in demand for AMCs among professional asset managers.

What is an AMC?

AMCs allow an asset manager to implement a strategy (on bankable or non-bankable assets) in a simple and straightforward procedure. The asset manager may decide to change the composition of the underlying during the term of the certificate with one order, instead of placing the trades at several banks (see picture).

Overall, an AMC is a financial instrument that will transform your intended investment strategy or non-bankable assets into securitised products with a maximum degree of flexibility.

AMCs combine the flexibility of structured products (low entry level, time to market, efficient cost structure) with that of classic investment funds (portfolio diversification and adaptability to different market conditions). With AMCs issued out of SPVs, we create a fully ring-fenced, bankruptcy-remote solution that can be used in different scenarios.

AMCs with ISP as the Paying Agent will be issued with a Swiss ISIN on SIX SIS Ltd. and opened on Euroclear and Clearstream.

How to Invest in an AMC

Buying an AMC is as easy as buying a stock or a bond. Investors can simply place the buy order with their custodian bank using the AMC’s unique ISIN code. The respective bank then trades with the Paying Agent (ISP) directly or uses a bridge partner if no direct trading line exists.

Investment Strategies

There are 3 types of investment strategies: bankable, non-bankable and hybrid.

Investment Strategies

Bankable

Non-bankable

Hybrid

Bankable

Investing efficiently in typical financial securities, such as:

  • Equities
  • Bonds
  • ETFs
  • Funds
  • Derivatives
  • Foreign Exchange

The design of the AMC framework enables direct access to several prime brokers in their respective fields and allows clients to benefit from transaction costs at the best rates.

  • Private Equities
  • Private Debt
  • Private Funds
  • Crypto currencies
  • Real Estate

Most Frequent SPV Issuance Jurisdictions

Our typical securities are generally structured and launched through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) from cost-and-tax-efficient jurisdictions.

Each SPV is normally an individual solution based on a client’s preference. Most frequently used issuance jurisdictions are Jersey & Luxembourg. Other key jurisdictions serviced include Guernsey, Cayman Islands, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Mauritius and United Kingdom

ISP would be happy to check the addition of further jurisdictions and can introduce business partners to provide bespoke SPVs.
