Simon Gold, ISP Group’s Senior CLO Portfolio Manager analysed the impact of COVID-19 on the European CLO market at the Global ABS and Structured Finance Summit.
According to Simon Gold, “The old adage that a manager is best for either debt or equity seems to have gone out of the window in 2020, as the best-performing managers, for the most part, were proved to be smaller issuers with relatively few CLOs that did a great job of building par. Thus, they benefited from both the junior mezz and equity tranches at the same time. We have been impressed by the most recent cohort of issuers into the Euro CLO market and hope to see more deals and new entrants going forward.”
